Marketing – What’s it’s all about and what does it mean?
Every business is involved in marketing – admittedly a lot may think they aren’t, but they are!
Everything you do in your business involves marketing – whether it’s the way your staff answer the phones; the wording on the invoices you send out; the way you attract new customers; how you deal with your existing clients; getting new leads for your sales people and so on.
Marketing is not just about putting an advertisement in the local paper or a free magazine. It’s not just about printing a calendar and sending them out at Christmas.
Now, don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with putting ads in papers or producing calendars – but I’d be asking, are thesethe right papers for my business? Are they read by my customers? Does the calendar fit with the image my brand portrays?
Marketing is the foundation of your business.
Lots of small companies are confused by the subject of marketing. We are all being told that we should be involved in social media, or use the latest flash generated website, or make sure we have ‘an app’. There are lots of opinions, but the one thing which we are lacking is, TIME.
We are all busy trying to run our own companies and we don’t have the time to get involved with Marketing.
